An Hour in the Life

This is what we did this afternoon between 3:30 and 4:30.  Part of me would rather keep the 'Christmas Picture" a surprise, but everyone knows I'm too impatient...

Time Capsule...

Below is a letter that Jaye wrote to me in 1983! What a great cousin she was (and is!). Its so cool to see how wonderfully her own kids are growing up, and what a great Mom she is...But I still remember Jaye as a kid herself...like this, sweet and loving and tres cool!! Thanks Jaye, for everything you are. I LOVE YOU!!!

Musical Performances

Do you all remember the post I did way back in September of Patrick playing trombone for the first time? Well, I can say it now -- he was pretty BAD. I can say it now because this morning, he played the theme from Star Wars with the full Siwanoy School band at the spring concert, and he sounded GREAT! He's here in this first video. You can't see him very well because they put him in the back (!!!!), but if you look over the right shoulder of the girl playing the flute in the first row, you can see the slidey thing of his trombone and get an occasional glimpse of his head. Patrick is the ONLY trombone player in the school. So, do you hear that one trombone? That's him!



Here's a picture of Patrick accepting the congratulatory bakery cookie Paul handed him as he exited the gym. Isn't he cute?

Kate performed this morning, too. She played the glockenspeil and sang "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay. I'm not kidding! Look:

You may have noticed Paul making himself completely comfortable on the floor right in front of the performers toward the end of that video. Everyone in town knows Paul because wherever he goes, he makes himself comfortable. And he goes everywhere -- his life consists of being dragged to concerts, plays, baseball games, softball games, soccer games, various presentations and class trips. I think this experience will make him a very adaptable adult. This is what Paul thinks of my theory:

Emmett isn't old enough to participate in the spring concert just yet, but he has a musical performance with his grade next week, and a piano recital on Sunday. I don't have any musical pictures of him right now, but here's one of him losing teeth:

There's a hole in the ceiling

Fancy schmancy hotel had the water coming out of the ceiling and the wall between the bath and bed rooms was glass. Nearly scared poor Grandma to death.

The Kings County Fair

I'm on a slideshow roll! Here's another one, with pictures from a carnival in Brooklyn we went to last night, after visiting with Pop, Uncle Monte, Tara and the girls. As you can see, Kate's still a thrill-seeker (remember her swinging on a rope into the river in Canada at the age of five?). Emmett's not at all convinced that these ridiculous rides are for him. Everybody loved the petting zoo and the ice-cream was AWESOME.

Aaah, there's nothing like spending time with family on Easter...

The rest of the pictures from Easter are here. Before you go, a warning and a tirade of excuses for Mimi. First, the warning: when you see these pictures, you will want to come home immediately. By my count, you've got about a month and six days to wait before you see these dolled-up cuties in person. Next, the excuses: no, I did NOT get the picture you requested of all six grandchildren. There was napping to be done at various times, and eggs to be found, and did I mention that I hosted Easter brunch AND Easter dinner? Anyway, I think I made up for it (as usual) in quantity...

Patrick is famous! (maybe?)

Superbowl watchers all over the globe have been calling/emailing to ask whether it was PATRICK who was prominently featured in an NFL commercial last night. I've got my own opinion, but the one held by everyone else (including Matt, and Patrick himself) is definitely more fun.

Hello everybody!
We are back home, safe and sound, happy and exhausted !
I'll post some other pictures soon, but this is to say Thank You to Uncle Peter because part of the Christmas gift went towards this trip, Thank You to Mimi and Pop for having us at their house in Pompano, and taking care of us !! Thanks to the McLaughlin kids because their 'magic box of toys' kept Lukas and Noah entertained for the whole stay (we left two light sabers for you to play with next time)
Our blessings to Alice for her Christening, and a big hug and kiss to everyone else.

For the past couple of weeks, I've been playing around with a new (for me) editing software, and having a great time fooling with some pictures of my favorite babies. If you'd like to see, they're here.

I did it.

I took these pictures with my little unsophisticated camera. That would account for the red eye corrections in the pictures. We'll get more pictures next week and I'll post more. Love to all.
