Ode to Monte's Stump
(Embarassed and Apologetic)
Monte, I am sorry I killed your stump.
I wish I could say it was the drinking.
But really I forgot to do my thinking.
And now you know your sister married a hump.

Mother's Day
Kama came all the way over to Brooklyn just to join us for Mother's Day. It was a little too chilly to sit outside but we managed to have fun inside playing with photobooth (the funhouse pictures), skyping Rome and playing with axes and machetes.
Here's all the pictures.

My Aunt Janis taught me this...
I was taking an introduction to video editing course the other day and needed to shoot some footage to edit. I ended up shooting this since I did not have enough people to do the spoon-on-nose dance made famous by the Francy clan. It's a bit long but I'm hoping to show it at Sundance this year...
New cameras
For those in points elsewhere, many here in the US received a tax rebate this week. Tara and I dutifully injected ours back in the economy by way of a new camera AND a camcorder.
So here's a boring test video. The baby was doing barrel rolls about an hour before this and was visibly moving Tara's belly around, but unfortunately she doesn't do tricks on command (yet).

Mmmmm.. what was IN that lolly?
Yeah, so Emmett got a really HUGE splinter really DEEP in is foot about ten days ago. It happened on the back deck of the new bungalow on Olive Walk (did you all hear about the new bungalow?? When do you want to come see it??). I knew right away that this one was a job for a professional, and when even our pediatrician couldn't get it out with a scalpel (ouch!) and some big shots of lidocaine (oooh!), she packed us up and sent us to the emergency room. There was lots of waiting, some x-rays, and some more waiting. Several different doctors came in and looked at Emmett's foot, winced and walked away, mumbling something about the probability that we'd have to book an appointment in the O.R. the next day. Eventually, a surgeon swaggered in and tried to cut poor Emmett's foot right open before the nurse had even unwrapped the special lollipop she had intended to give him to make him loopy. He reflexively kicked the surgeon hard in the chest. Heh.
Finally, Emmett was strapped down and given some stronger shots of lidocaine and the plank of wood was removed from his foot. He was a trooper, and the nurse let him finish the lollipop while they wrapped up his foot. It was basically too late by then to do any good, but hey -- he deserved a little treat by this point.

In other news, Patrick received his First Holy Communion today and everyone came over to help us celebrate. I'll post pictures soon.

In case you were wondering

Here's the full image of the detail used in the header. Its part of a Mother's Day card Francy, Kore and Kieran gave to Grandma in 1985. It comes from Jaye's archives.
In other news, I'm trying to post episode 3 of the interview but I don't have anyplace to store the MP3 online to stream to the blog. Anyone have any server space? the file is about 33mg.
And where's the participation? Wasn't there a cruise someone wants to report on? Read any good articles? Know anyone that got a huge splinter removed and got a medicated lolly?
Lastly, here is a link to something stupid I did. Have a nice weekend.
